Updates: Post-NaNoWriMo, revising The Muses, freelance writing and editing

Hey everyone. It’s been a while since I posted as I got wrapped up in all of the Thanksgiving festivities (and PIE). I thought I’d give you a little update.

How did everyone do with NaNoWriMo? I didn’t officially participate, but I was using the challenge as a motivational tool to work on my novel series every day. I didn’t exactly do that either unfortunately, but things got a little crazy. Maybe one year I will do NaNoWriMo for real. Did you know Sara Gruen’s Water for Elephants was originally written as part of NaNoWriMo? You can read a bunch of other NaNoWriMo success stories here.

While I didn’t necessarily work on my novel series every day, I did finish yet another draft/round of revisions with The Muses, and it’s now a little under 87,000 words. It started out at 94,000. I am very excited about this version, though, and I feel like it’s much tighter, the pacing is a lot better, and all of the important information  is revealed to the reader in a much smoother way. I sent the revisions to my literary agent, who will be sending out the next round of submissions soon. There are still two publishers from the first round who we haven’t heard back from yet. So fingers crossed there.

In other news, I’ve picked up a lot more freelance work recently, which has been keeping me busy. I do offer both freelance writing and editing services here on my writing site. Prices are negotiable! Because I do not have a lot of “official” editing experience, I am willing to offer some editing work for a discount in exchange for testimonials/reviews. Let me know if that interests you!

And that’s about it for now. Happy writing everyone!
