30 Day Poetry Challenge – Day 30 – Tomorrow’s Horizon

Well, today is the last day of the 30 Day Poetry Challenge! I did it! 30 poems in 30 days.

30 Day Poetry Challenge – Day 30 – In the End: Write a poem that begins with something ending.

Tomorrow’s Horizon

Almost midnight,
the air conditioning hums
and the house is quiet
except for the tiny footsteps
of the cats who come
to check on you and make sure
you’re okay.

It feels like the bottom
of the barrel, like you’re scraping
the remains of a life you once knew
surviving on scraps and garbage
from a time long past.

There is so much more
behind the light of
tomorrow’s horizon, and
is not
the end.

Sink into the comfort
of your pillow
as the cats curl up beside you.
Take a deep breath, and let your dreams
put things back
where they are supposed to be.

  1. I love you Sara, thank you for this poem. It means a lot to me. I will have to get it printed on a plaque like I did for the poem I wrote in High School. You give me strength and inspiration that things can and will get better! I am blessed to have you in my life!

    • Thank you Sparkle. 🙂 I am glad that you liked the poem, and I am glad you are in my life as well! Thank you for always supporting me!
