Seasonal Shifting

Winter brings with her melancholy nights.
Sometimes it’s hard for me to recover.
Spring dawns, but I can’t adjust to the light.

Shut away, waiting for fire to ignite,
Stagnant me, I only seem to hover.
Winter brings with her melancholy nights.

Melting landscapes of cities dressed in white
linger in my thoughts to be uncovered.
Spring dawns, and my eyes are shut to the light.

I’m trying hard, striving with all my might,
patiently waiting to discover.
Winter brings with her melancholy nights.

My bones thaw, and I catch a glimpse of the heights
I may reach before this journey is over.
Spring dawns, and my eyes open to see the light.

The old man sings, “everything will be alright.”
We learn how to look at one another.
Winter brings with her melancholy nights.
Spring dawns, but I need time to feel the light.
