Fall Writing Challenges

Hey everyone!

Some exciting stuff is in the works with my novel, THE MUSES. I can’t say anything right now, but hopefully I will have some great news for you soon!

Meanwhile, I am hard at work on the Still Untitled Sequel. I managed to cut through the “I can’t write this effing sequel please help me oh my God” road blocks, and now I’m working on it little by little every day. I only have about 10,000 words that I’ve rewritten over and over and over again, but now I’m taking my own advice, pressing on, and just getting out the first draft. I can always revise later.

I also was thinking about NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and how every November, I think “well, I wish I could try that” but it always seems to be bad timing for me. Either I’m working on some other project and I don’t want to start a new one or I’m very busy at my job or something like that. It’s early enough, though, for me to plan to do NaNoWriMo this year.

So I thought I would combine these two goals into one major fall writing challenge. My plan is to complete a first draft of the Sequel by the end of October so that I can start another project for NaNoWriMo November. When I finish a first draft, I usually like to put it away for at least four to six weeks before I go back to it and start revising. So if I am able to finish the sequel draft by the end of October, that will be the perfect time to put it away for a month and work on something else for NaNoWriMo.

Hopefully by December 1st, I will have two rough drafts of novels to work with! I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my progress.

Any of you tackling NaNoWriMo this year?
