Dreaming in Albums

You are the quarry.
Perhaps you will see
me eating souvlaki
in a Greek restaurant
or watching the sea change
from up in our bedroom, after
the war
or maybe you’ll see
my photograph one day
in a magazine
posing next to
beautiful strangers
or maybe you will
see me on the
dark side of the moon
in a bright Siamese dream–we’ve
always been connected, you and I–
maybe you’ll find me
in the bloodflowers that grow
with absolution–vibrant and full of life.
Maybe it will be beside the
paranoid android with celebrity skin
when the Queen is dead
and we are none the wiser.

Or maybe it will be in rainbows
that appear above your lawn
as you bring me the workhorse.
Maybe you will find me at last in
a teen dream with a vast melancholy
and infinite sadness as we watch
the lonely hearts club band
and try to sing along.
Open your eyes
and see me, isola.
Hurry up.
We’re dreaming.
