30 Day Poetry Challenge – Day 28 – Clutter

30 Day Poetry Challenge –  Day 28: Knocking off the dust – Go into the back of your closet, or shed, or some other storage space and pick three objects at random — write a poem about them. It could be a fantastical story about how they were acquired, or about a person in your life you might associate one or all of them with, or an unearthed memory of something enjoyable or melancholy.

Christmas wrapping paper
sits beside Halloween pumpkin lights
next to the audiobook collection
an old co-worker at an old job once gave me.
Holidays push into new holidays,
jobs disolve and become new jobs,
the days push us forward
like slugs crawling on the sidewalk
until we all forget.
